Ms. Ila "Faye" Medlen, age 90, of Scottsboro, AL., passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Ila Faye was the 5th of 8 children born to Namon Curtis Wade Sr. and Della Holloway on April 30, 1934. As a child, Faye lived on Crow Mountain in Jackson County, AL but moved to Madison County, AL as a young teenager to help care for her niece. In 1952, Faye married Joe Medlen and went on to graduate from Butler High School in 1954. The couple had 2 daughters, Patricia (stillborn) and Lisa. Sarah Lynn was the first born to Lisa, giving Faye a granddaughter whom she dearly loved. Lisa later had 3 more children; Gregory Matt, George Morgan and Kaela Jo.
After raising her daughter, Faye moved to Scottsboro and began a daycare out of her home. All of her daycare children were loved and remembered dearly through the years. She later became the owner and operator of a small children's boutique specializing in pageant dresses, Tots to Teens.
Faye came to the Lord on July 28, 1985 at Nila Free Holiness Church where she received the Holy Ghost. She loved her Lord, church, family and friends with all her heart. Her strength and faith were tested as she battled ovarian cancer for 20 years. Sis. Faye's trust in the Lord kept her all the days of her life.
Special thanks to the members of Scottsboro Free Holiness Church, past and present, who have supported and cared for Faye.
Faye is survived by her sister, Bonnie Mae Kirkpatrick of Huntsville; brother-in-law, Doug Kirkpatrick; sister-in-law, Margaret Wade of Scottsboro and Helen Wade of Hytop.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant daughter. Siblings; Ruby Mae Wade, Betty Jo (Emmett) Walls, Namon Curtis (Verna Mae) Wade Jr., Hugh Clay Wade, Geraldine (Willis) Brown, and Edd Lee Wade.
Funeral Service will be Monday at 12:00 pm at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Cooley, and Rev. David Kittrell officiating. The burial will be in Hytop Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Monday beginning at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
