Ila Mae Wahls

Ila Mae Wahls age 85, of Kimball Township, passed away on October 27, 2023 in McLaren Port Huron Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born on January 31, 1938 in Port Huron to the late Clifford and Zelma (Lucas) Cook. She married Roger L. Wahls on April 18, 1959 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2023.
Ila retired from Memphis Schools. She had a deep love of family and friends. She showed her love through cooking and spent many hours in the kitchen. In earlier years, she enjoyed camping, polka dancing, "Golden Girl" Florida vacations, hosting backyard pool parties and spending time at the beach and up North.
She is survived by her three children; Chuck (Shirley) Wahls, David (Amy) Wahls and Kristi (Jeff) Cook, six grandchildren; Jason (Katie) Wahls, Randy Wahls, Emily (Donnie) Cutting, Adam Cook, Whitney Cook and Anna Wahls, four great grandchildren; Blake, Sawyer, Luke, and Maeve, two sisters; Gayle (the late Bill) Kettlewell and Patti (Douglas) Lince, brother and sisters-in-law; Fred (Karen) Wahls, Judy (Ron) Thompson, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger and a granddaughter, Jillian Wahls.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday - November 8, 2023 at 12:30pm in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Wales Township. Minister Shaun Laurain will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
