Ima Dye Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonald Funeral Home, Inc. - Lewis County on Dec. 5, 2025.
Ima Ernestine Pollock Dye was born April 14, 1935, in Hohenwald, TN. She passed at her home in New Albany, MS on December 4, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Ernest S. and Carlene Spann Pollock.

She was a 1953 graduate of Lewis County High School. Later that year she married Arelus Dye on October 17, 1953. This union gave them Sid (Kathy), Keith (Belinda), and Tim (Kathy).

She is survived by her husband Arelus, and two sisters: Wilda (Frank) Lawson and Gerry Lee (Jack) Mills and her three sons.

She had ten grandchildren: Sid: Allison (Kevin), Andrew, Joshua (Ahdazsa); Keith: Jeremy (Sarah), Anna (Jason), Michael (Amber), Corey (Megan), Brent (Mandy); Tim: Brandon (Melissa), Amanda (Jonathan).

She had twenty great-grandchildren: Allison: Mason, Drew, Zoey; Andrew: Ayden, Alex; Joshua: Zephaniah, Ezekiel; Jeremy: James, Lucy; Brandon: Isabelle, Tyler; Amanda: Amy; Michael: Blakeley, Brenlie, Corey: Chloe, Caroline, Camryn; Brent: Gage, Skylar, Zander.

She was raised at a very young age to be a worker. Her grandfather and father owned the Lewis County Herald. Her parents owned Strand Theater and Highlands Drive-In where she learned a tremendous work ethic that guided her working career.

She worked at Genesco Shoe company before working as a secretary at Lewis County High School. She worked in the insurance industry from 1965 to her retirement in October 2000. She worked for Adcox/Hull, and Waverly Insurance agencies. In 1979 the Lawsons and Dyes started Hohenwald Insurance Agency which remains in business in Hohenwald, TN.

She was a member of the New Albany church of Christ but also worshiped at Lomax church of Christ, Hohenwald church of Christ, New Johnsonville church of Christ and Flatrock church of Christ. She taught children's classes, prepared meals, and served faithfully in every congregation where she was a member.

She will be remembered for her passion for her family. The many ball games, church events, school events and graduations kept her always on the move despite working a full-time job. She was there and many times sacrificing her personal time and wants.

She will be dearly missed for her love, dedication and sacrifice she made as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite phrase to departing family members for decades was, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."

Visitation will be from 10 AM to 2 PM, Tuesday, December 9 at Flatrock church of Christ in Hohenwald, TN with funeral services at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that all donations to be sent to the American Cancer Society in her memory. There will not be a graveside service.
