Ima "Arvella" Gable

Ima "Arvella" Gable, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026.
Born on November 11, 1932, Ima was a loving mother and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew her. She lived with a quiet faith that guided her daily life and gave her strength, comfort, and hope.
She was born in San Angelo, Texas, to Ida Mae Barber and Ocie Barber. She met and married TA Gable and moved to Oklahoma in 1960, although her heart always stayed in Texas. After having two daughters, she worked at Western Heights Schools, Yukon Review, and Mustang Times until she finished her career as an OA at FAA working with the flight traffic control academy.
Arvella found great joy in gardening and especially loved her flowers. She spent countless hours tending to them, finding peace outdoors and delight in watching things grow. Her garden reflected who she was-a lover of beautiful things and full of life.
Arvella is preceded in death by her parents and husband TA Gable. She is survived by her two daughters, Angie Choate and Maressa Flowers and her husband Jerry Flowers; her grandson Cody Kern; great grandson Camden Kern; and other loved ones and friends.
She will be remembered for her love for family and friends. Arvella's faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Services are being held on Friday, January 9th, at 10am at McNeil's Funeral Service.
Arvella will be laid to rest with her husband in the Bangs Cemetery in Bangs, Texas.
