James “Jim” Dennis

James "Jim" Dennis, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, was born May 4, 1940, and passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of William Adolph and Anna Leora Dennis.

Jim graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1958 and began working for Western Electric as an electronics technician. While working full-time, he earned his associate degree from Oklahoma City University and later graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Business Administration. In 1963, he worked for the U.S. Forestry Service fighting forest fires in California. He later spent 30 years with the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring early at age 54.

Jim married the love of his life, Jean, in 1967, and they shared 58 years of marriage. In 1971, he purchased land in Tuttle and spent years designing and building the country home of his dreams, where he planted trees, built fencing, installed a pond, and raised cattle.

Known as a natural problem-solver, Jim could fix nearly anything. He enjoyed riding motor bikes, spending summers in Colorado-where he later owned a cabin-and watching wildlife from his dining room window. He had a special love for Blue Heeler dogs, especially his faithful companion, Lucy.

Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a devoted member of Crossings Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and David Koelsch; his son, Greg Dennis; his grandchildren, Brielle and her husband Parker Smith, Drake and Bryce Koelsch, and J.R. and Anna Dennis; and his sister, Betty Ann Staley, and brother, Robert Dennis.

Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, strong work ethic, deep love for family, and the legacy he built with his own hands.
