Imogene Cline Obituary

Imie grew up a farm girl in the Petersburg area. She graduated from Tallula High School in 1946. Upon graduation, she married the love of her life, and classmate, Carroll F. Cline. Together they celebrated 73 years. Imogene was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's Church and was active, from childhood until she could no longer attend. Imie was eager to be an involved citizen of Menard County. She read the Petersburg Observer cover to cover searching for opportunities to support the community. In addition, she loved attending her clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Women's Club, Garden Club, and Historical Society. Always the farm wife, Imie was for many years, the friendly face that greeted you at the Menard Medical Center.
Imogene leaves behind her two daughters, Phyllis (Richard) Cheaney & Patti Conway; step-grandson, Christopher Conway of California; step-granddaughter, Kate (David) Donegan of Skokie, IL; and three step-great-grandchildren, Miles, Julian, and Garrett Donegan.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Cline; her parents, George and Christina Schafer; brothers, Kenneth Schafer and Ronald Dean Schafer; and an infant sister.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 12th, 2024, from 10:00a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Free Church, 209 W. Douglas, Petersburg, IL 62675 with interment at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg, IL to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Imogene's name to St. Paul Evangelical Free Church, 209 W. Douglas, Petersburg, IL 62675 or to Menard Co Senior Transport, 102 S. 7th St, Petersburg, IL 62675.
We would like to offer thanks to the wonderful staff at Sunny Acres and Concordia Village Memory Care for taking excellent care of our beloved mother.
Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is in charge of arrangements.
