Imogene Garrison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Quisenberry Funeral Home - Tonganoxie on Feb. 5, 2025.
Imogene Josephine "Sissie" Garrison, born on January 19, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Ira Patrick Dalton and Alice Marie (Quick) Dalton, passed away at home on January 31, 2025.
Sissie married the love of her life, Thomas E. Garrison, on August 8, 1952, in Eureka Springs, AR. They were married for 31 wonderful years before his passing in 1983.
In her younger years, she held a variety of jobs, including working at Colgate, owning and operating several restaurants, a reluctant pig farmer, serving as a homemaker, and being a loving caretaker to her husband and mother until their passings. She ultimately retired from Hallmark Cards in 1995.
Sissie was a talented wordsmith, often stringing together beautiful or witty poems to the delight of those who had the privilege of hearing them. She loved fishing, traveling, and Christmas. In her later years, she discovered a passion for painting and created many pieces that now hang in her children's homes. She loved nothing more than her family, and one of the greatest joys of her life was taking her children on a trip to Ireland in 2013. She never lost her sense of humor and took delight in making others laugh. She belonged to Grace Baptist Church and deeply loved her church and church family, finding great joy in attending services and Bible study there.
Sissie was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Garrison; her father, Ira P. Dalton; her mother, Alice Dalton; her brother, Ira L. "Sonny" Dalton; her sister, Darlene "Lady" Ham; and her stepdaughter, Wilma June Anderson.
She is survived by her son, Tom Garrison (Geneva) of Eagar, AZ; her daughter, Kim Landers (Darren) of Tonganoxie, KS; her son, Sam Garrison (Nancy) of Tonganoxie, KS; Donna Mitchell of Castle Rock, CO; stepdaughters, Joyce Ocamb of Basehor, KS, and Peggy Stein (Tony) of Lenexa, KS; six grandchildren, Jessie Franssen (Andrew), Kyle Landers (Jennifer), Wade Garrison (Aubrey), Emily Greer (Daryl), Coy Mitchell, and Tommy Kirkpatrick (Maggie); eight step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday February 6, 2025 Funeral service will be 11 am Friday February 7, 2025 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS.
