Ina Marie Carter, 60, of Toone, departed this life on Friday afternoon, July 11, 2025, at her home.
Memorial services, to be held at Middleton Pentecostal Tabernacle, will be scheduled in the coming days and will be announced here when available.
The wife of Tony Carter, who survives, Mrs. Carter was a life-long resident of Hardeman County. The daughter of the late James Lloyd Tyson and Vivah Dean Neal Tyson, who also survives her, she had formerly worked as the warden's secretary at CCA in Whiteville for 16 years. She was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School and West Tennessee Business College. Among her many interests, she enjoyed tending to her flower beds and garden, taking care of her chickens and rabbits, traveling to the beach and her beloved dogs, Remi and Baxter. Perhaps what brought her the most joy was feeding her family and taking care of her mother. She was a faithful member of Middleton Pentecostal Tabernacle.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on February 12, 1988 and her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Jennie Marie Forshea (Clay) of Medon and Jessica Jemison (Keith), of Toone; one son, Cody Carter (Casey) of Toone; three sisters, Sandy Robertson (Jebby) of Walls, MS, Jennie Woods (Shawn) of Hickory Valley and Judy Rhodes of Toone; six grandchildren, Hunter McKee, Katie McKee, Christopher McKee, Cayden Forshea, Kotton Carter and Kolt Carter; and one great-grandchild "on-the-way".
She was also preceded in death by her father; her brother, Herman Rhodes; and her special sister, Karen Ervin.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
