Inez Smail (nee Mills) passed peacefully at home following a long struggle after a debilitating stroke on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

She was the owner of Caribbean Spa and Tanning in Wooster, Ohio as a certified cosmetologist, and met her husband Charlie there. They settled in Loudonville after marrying and she became involved in veteran's organizations due to Charlie's service, and her late husband's (Walter Loya's) service in the Air Force. She previously held offices with the American Legion Auxiliary and donated a lot of her time to veteran's organizations. She spoke fondly of her time as an officer in the Legion Auxiliary.

Her life changed a lot after the last stroke that took her independence and mobility. While she stayed in good spirits and watched the shows she loved and scratched off lottery tickets, her world just got a little smaller. She still loved having visitors and company to watch the shows she loved. Please do not interrupt the Price Is Right was her motto! She would love to hand you a scratch off ticket if you were visiting and hope you'd win. She also had an addiction to the Temu app. Packages would just keep coming to the complete bewilderment of all other people at home. Please send help.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Charles Smail, her children, Emma Lee McBride (Rick), Belinda Vernatter (Aaron), Randy Vernatter, Billy Vernatter (Madison) and Ivy Daniels (Garth). She is also survived by multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Dinky.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Jo and Millard, brothers Roger Lee and Lones, a sister that died in infancy, Emily, and Carol Mills, her sister-in-law, whose son Roger Mills is still surviving.

We will be hosting a celebration of life at the VFW, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Please come with your memories. We would love to see you there.
