Our dear mother, Oma and friend, Ingrid Edeltraud Freimann Juras, passed away after a short illness on February 5, 2026, on what would have been her husband's 100th birthday. She would have been 100 years old on her upcoming birthday in April. At the time of her passing she was being cared for at St. Joseph Villa in
Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ingrid was born on April 9, 1926 in Koenigsberg, East Prussia, Germany to Max Gustav Freimann and Margarete Hedwig Krause. Ingrid's mother passed away when she was only 5 years of age, shortly after the birth of her younger sister Christel. This left her father a widower with 4 young children; Heinz, Irmgard, Ruth, Ingrid, and the baby, Christel. Max married Wanda Sommer in 1933 and she helped him raise the family from the previous marriage and later they added another baby, Reinhart.
After WWII in 1953, Ingrid was able, after her 2nd try, to get sponsorship to come to America. She married Joachim Werner Juras on June 5, 1954. They had a son, David, who died two days after his birth. Later, they had a daughter Nancy, and another son Douglas.
Joachim passed away on February 17, 1996.
During Ingrid's lifetime, starting at age 14, she worked as a nursemaid, dental assistant, nurse, and housekeeper, always getting outstanding references. She has been a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a founding member of the German Speaking Ward until it was dissolved in 2018.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlework, preserving her homegrown fruits and vegetables, gardening and travel.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, 5 siblings, her husband and her son David. She leaves behind her sister Christel, daughter Nancy (Walter), son Douglas, grandson Ian (Nikki), granddaughter Paige Childs (Mason), great grandson Walter, and a great granddaughter Sawyer.
A short viewing will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, to be followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon at the same location. Following the memorial, there will be an interment at the adjacent Cemetery.
Douglas and Nancy would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the many Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers, friends and family who have been there for her and for them.
