Ingrid Ursula Stevens, 80, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 18, 2023, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ingrid Stevens was born on September 8, 1942 in Mannheim, Germany to Angelina and Helmut Herzer. She graduated from high school in Germany and later attended Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She retired at age 62 after working in the government customer service sector.
Ingrid married Lyle Stevens in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The couple had one child, Anette Solmaz of Huntersville, North Carolina. Ingrid was best known for her infectious laughter. She loved hiking in the mountains of Colorado, gardening, baking, and doing many crafts including quilting.
Ingrid is survived by her daughter, Anette Solmaz, of Huntersville, North Carolina (Kent Solmaz); grandchildren, Steven Solmaz and Kari Wordsworth (Ryan Wordsworth); sisters, Ursula Schneider, Heidi Klein; brothers, Klaus Theobald (Ingrid Theobald) and Wolfgang Theobald, and many nieces and nephews in Germany. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Angelina Theobald and Helmut Herzer, and stepfather Ludwig Theobald.
A memorial service for Ingrid will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral home in Huntersville, North Carolina. Memorial donations can be made in Ingrid's name to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
