Warren – Ioannis "John" Vorrias, 88, of Warren passed away on Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025 at Continuing Healthcare of Niles.
John was born on June 15, 1936 in Chios Greece, a son of Christos and Sevasti (Michalakis) Vorrias.
John and his family came to Warren in 1974 where he worked in Maintenance for the Sunrise Inn.
Outside of work, John was devoted to his Orthodox faith. He was devoted to reading scripture and enjoyed ringing church bells. John also enjoyed gardening and cherished the time he spent traveling to Greece to see his family. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kalliopi (Taktikos) Vorrias of Warren; daughters, Irini (Nikolaos) Georgalos of Warren and Christina "TeeTee" Vorrias of Warren; granddaughter, Kalliopi Georgalos (fiancé, Niko Gerassimakis); sister, Arigyro (Fr. Michali) Liapis of Greece and many loved nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his nephew, Foti Liapis.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to John on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10 to 11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St NE, Warren, OH 44481.
A funeral service will follow at the church on Monday at 11am with Rev. Constantine Valantasis and Rev. Demetri Constantine presiding.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St NE, Warren, OH 44481.
