IRENE SHOPE ANDERSON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother, Irene Shope Anderson, age 97, on February 10, 2024, at Rock Creek Manor Assisted Living in Jasper.
Irene was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Miles W. and Annie Sue Shope on August 6, 1926. She was the oldest of thirteen children and grew up working on her parents farm and helping take care of her younger siblings. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl and devoted her life to Christ. She stood steadfast in her faith until the day she passed. She was a true definition of a "Virtuous Woman". She always took great care of her family, sometimes with limited resources, always willing to help anyone in need, a friend who always had a listening ear, and a prayer warrior who we always said, had a "direct line" to the Lord. She was a devoted member and dedicated worker to her beloved church, Gospel Temple in Ball Ground. She Attended faithfully until her passing. After raising her seven children, she went back to school and obtained her Nurses Aide Certification and became a Private Duty Nurse for many years. She was always the selfless caregiver of others. She loved working in her yard, tending to her flowers, gardening, gospel music, and was an amazing country cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford Anderson, her son, Lawrence Anderson and her Grandson, Kolby Dobbins.
Irene is survived by her children Doris (Dr John) Dobbins of Jacksonville, FL, Don (Martha) Anderson of Acworth, Cecil (Pam) Anderson of Blue Ridge, Gary Anderson of Nelson, Wanda (Randall) Fouts of Marble Hill, and Lisa (Wes) Garrison of Canton. Her beloved Grandsons, Kent (Arlena) Dobbins, Craig Anderson, Kirk (Leanna) Anderson, Nathan Fouts, Caleb Fouts, Trey Garrison and Luc Anderson. Her Great-Grandchildren, Lauren Dobbins, Alexa Anderson, Emma Kate Dobbins, Cameron Anderson, Lindsey Dobbins, Ewan Anderson and Callum Anderson. Also surviving are her siblings, Henry (Evelyn) Shope, James (Carol) Shope, Betty Collins, Clarence Shope, Bernice Payne, Martha Daugherty; Sister-in-law Carrie Shope and Sister-in-law Abalee Anderson Samples; as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Gospel Temple Holiness Church with the Rev. A.W. (Butch) Roberts and Dr. John Dobbins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made in Irene's memory to the Gospel Temple Cemetery Care Fund, P.O. Box 453, Tate, GA 30177. And respectfully ask that no food be brought to funeral home.
The Anderson family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Rock Creek Manor and Compassus Hospice for their amazing care of our Mother during her failing health.
