Irene Chesler

Irene Chesler, 73, of Utica, NY, passed away on December 20, 2025, after a long illness.

She was born on August 3, 1952, a daughter of the late Ralph and Lena Theriault Elmer.

Irene was a fun-loving spirit who always looked forward to a good time. She enjoyed adventure and was forever seeking new experiences, embracing life with enthusiasm and joy.

Irene is survived by her devoted brother, Tom Elmer and his wife, Jennifer, who lovingly cared for her for over 30 years. Irene placed great trust in Tom, and they shared a special bond and friendship. She is also survived by her siblings, Donny, Joey (Debbie), Norman (Donna), Gary, George (Cathy), Carol (Bob) Premo, Judy (Jim) Johnson and Barbara Jean, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Sandra, Richard, Robert, Dennis, and David.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Luke's Home for the compassionate care and support Irene received. They would also like to offer a special thank you to Sam at Optum Care for her kindness and dedication to Irene over the years.

Services will be held on Friday, December 26, with calling hours from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St., Utica.
