Irene T. Erichsen

Irene T. Erichsen (née Flynn) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, at St. Joseph's Senior Home in Woodbridge, New Jersey. She was 83 years old.
Born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Irene and her late husband, Charles, lived on Staten Island and then Denville, NJ before moving to Florida in 2001. They were married for 53 years before Chuck passed away in 2016.
After graduating from St. John Villa Academy, Irene attended Wood's Secretarial School and worked as an Administrative Assistant at various entities including Staten Island Hospital, Kenyon & Kenyon law firm, and the Nabisco Co. before retiring from Airtron in Morris Plains in 2001.
Aside from being a devoted wife, a loving mother and a doting grandmother, Irene had a lifelong passion for music. She loved to sing and was a leading member of high school glee club. Upon her retirement, she joined her community chorale group which would perform a collection of standards at community events and area senior homes in Florida. In their spare time, she and Chuck enjoyed traveling together to spend time with family and especially loved cruising to Bermuda, going several times over the years. But most of all, Irene will be remembered as a kind, generous spirit whose warmth and laughter brought joy to everyone around her.
Surviving are her daughters: Laura D'Angelo and her husband, Carl, of Scotch Plains; Joanne Trani and her husband, Rick, of Clark, NJ; and Donna Pastore and her husband, Joseph, of Ridgefield, CT. She is also survived by her seven cherished grandchildren: Steven, Colleen, Tara, James, Kirsten, Joseph, and Jillian; and her two beloved great-granddaughters, Luciana and Sofia.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Thursday, August 28th, from 3 PM to 7 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, 1571 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains, on Friday, August 29th at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
