Irene Ina Howse, 71, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Geoffrey Howse; parents, Ilmari Santti and Jean Munoz, her siblings, Robert Santti, Karen Santti, Jerry Munoz, and David Kindrot. Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings Sherry Scott (Mike Scott), Joey Munoz (Peggy Munoz) and nephew Richie Reed; daughters Tanya Hutson, Anissa Darbonne (Darrel Darbonne), and Brandie Arrant (Brian Arrant); her grandchildren Madison Palermo (Ryan Palermo), Kennedy Darbonne, Randie Arrant, Braeden Arrant, and Emma Arrant; and great-grandchild Brooks Palermo.
Irene was born in San Francisco, California. She attended Del-Ano High School in California. Later, she graduated from McNeese State University with a Paralegal degree where she served her community for many years.
She had many hobbies. She was very creative and loved to knit, sew, and create stained glass. Her most cherished hobbies were traveling and boating with her family and friends on their boat, the “Down Under.” She loved to entertain no matter the occasion, she always found a way to enjoy her time with friends and family.
Family meant everything to Irene. Some of her favorite memories involved baking and decorating cookies with her grandchildren every Christmas Eve. “Grammy,” as she was known by her grandchildren, was selfless with her time and always made sure that her grandchildren knew they were a priority in her life. She made sure that everyone in her life knew how much they were loved.
She will be missed dearly by countless friends and her loving family. Funeral services for Irene will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Moss Bluff at Johnson Funeral Home 2171 North Highway 171, Lake Charles, LA 70611. Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a rosary at 11:30 a.m. A private burial will take place following the services.
