Irene M. Kazmierczak, 89, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2007, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Irene was born on June 21, 1918, in South Bend, to John and Cecila (Kaminski) Derucki. She retired in 1980 from the University of Notre Dame, where she was employed as a clerk in the Administration Building. On April 19, 1941, in South Bend, as Irene M. Derucki, she married Casimer M. �Carl� Kazmierczak, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2000. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Donna Jackson and Florence Watkins; and two brothers, Stanley and Raymond Derucki. Survivors include her daughter, Candyce (Jerry) Rodino of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Rita Marie Bicek of Michigan City, IN and Dolores Derucki of South Bend, IN; one brother, John (Linda) Derucki of Fremont, OH; one sister-in-law, Tillie Kazmierczak of South Bend, IN; and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Thursday, August 16, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM. Irene was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Rosary Society, American Legion Pulaski Post #357 Women�s Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, Golden Cluster, Z.B. Falcons Nest #80, Over 50 Club at Terre Coupee, and the Polka Mass Singers. Irene enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her daughter. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, and traveling. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor�s choice. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and therapists at St. Joseph�s Regional Medical Center-South Bend, St. Joseph�s Regional Medical Center-Mishawaka, and Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care.
