Irene O. Kiraly, 96, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024, at her residence in Youngstown, Ohio.
Irene was born on November 7, 1928 in Youngstown, a cherished daughter of the late John and Ann Osipchak. She was a lifelong resident of Youngstown, a community that she loved dearly. It was here that she met the love of her life, Stephan Kiraly, and they were united in marriage in 1952. Irene took great joy in her roles as a wife, mother, and later grandmother and great-grandmother, finding immense fulfillment in her family. In 1958 they built their family home on the west side where she lived for 66 years.
Outside the home, Irene embraced her passions wholeheartedly. She loved golfing with her husband and friends and spending time playing cards at club, particularly enjoying Pinochle and Shanghai Rummy. In the last two decades of her life, Irene treasured her weekly lunch and shopping dates with her friends and daily visits with her wonderful neighbors, just sitting and chatting. Most notably, Irene adored and looked forward to celebrating milestones with her family, nieces and nephews at celebrations and events.
Irene was a faithful and longtime member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
After 46 years of marriage, Irene's husband, Steve, passed away in 1998. She is survived by her two sons, David (Linda) Kiraly of Poland and Steven (Shari) Kiraly of Columbiana. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Bret (Ceraya), Sarah (Brian), Matthew (Erica), Jenna (Jason), Krista (Justin), Kyle (Patricia), Kayla (Kevin) and Paije (Bruce). Additionally, she rejoiced in the presence of her twelve great-granchildren, Lily, Scarlett, Quinn, Austin, Jude, Julian, Clark, Leila, Willow, Greyson Roman, and Cliff.
In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by her son, Gary Kiraly; four sisters, Elizabeth Schulze, Ann Beaumier, Mary Chick and Helen Bura; and her brothers, John, Edward and Ray Osipchak.
Friends will be received Friday, December 13, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home at 8536 Market Street in Boardman, Ohio, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Irene will then be interred at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
