Irene Ann McKnight, 78 of Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away at home on Friday March 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Audubon, NJ and spent time living in the historic Fairview section of Camden, NJ before settling in Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 2000 drawn by and fulfilling her dream to live by the water. Irene was a wonderful home maker who raised 9 children and assumed a role of more than a grandmother to some of her many grandchildren. Irene was the consummate Matriarch always with a tremendous love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared her home with numerous pets that she rescued throughout the years including her special “Jackie” who was by her side until the end. She published her book “One Moment in Time” and wrote several others. Irene was a masterful crocheter, always sharing her projects with her family and later with the world through Etsy.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Dorothy Schumann, daughters Sherry Price and Kristen Groves and grandson Aidan Zalenski.

She is survived by her loving husband James McKnight of more than 40 years, son Michael Groves (Jenifer) of Somerdale, NJ, daughters Dawn Lidel (Paul) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Vicki Rusk (Frank)of Monroeville, NJ, Dianne Pooley (John) of Gloucester City, NJ, Amanda McKnight of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Trisha Londrigan (Michael) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and step-son Jimmy McKnight (Kim) Deptford, NJ. She had 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She will also be sorely missed by lifelong friends Kathy Sprowl and Evelyn Wenstrom.

Cremation will be private.
