Irene L. Mercer, age 86, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born May 21, 1935, to Alfred and Noella (nee Moreau) Richer in Auburn, Maine. Irene worked as a grinder 37 years for, and retired from, Tadd Springs. Irene enjoyed making candy and cupcakes and having parties at home. She was most happy when she was around her grand and great grandchildren. Irene will be missed by all who knew her.
Left to celebrate Irene's life are her loving children, Katie (John-dec) Georgekopoulas, Susan (Ron) Thomas, Lee (Judy) Mercer and Cindy (Dino) Scarcipino; her cherished grandchildren, Jack Brackney, Jesse Brackney, Forest Mercer (Beth), Samantha Mercer (Patrick Clark), and Lindsey Mercer (Erin McCamley); adorable great grandchildren, Liam, Sean, Emerson, Madison, Forest Jr.; Cora, Charlee, Jackson, and Harper; and many extended family and friends. As Irene would say, 'See ya later, Alligator '
Irene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Forest Mercer; daughter, Mable; brother, Alfred Richer, Jr.; and sister, Anita Pittner.
Family will welcome visitors Monday, April 25, 2022, from 5 to 8PM at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, OH. A service will be held Tuesday, April 26th at 10AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the All-Inclusive Playground, 3581 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212 or at https://techforms.bcsoh.org/view.php?id=223125.
