Irene P. Boykin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 5, 2025, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on May 21, 1939, in Scott County, and she lived a life rich in love, family, and service.
Irene dedicated herself to various passions throughout her life, including gardening, baking pies, and helping those in need. She held a respected position as a USDA inspector, having retired from B.C. Rogers Processing Plant. More than her professional accomplishments, Irene cherished the moments spent with her family. Her legacy is reflected in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who carry forward the values and love she instilled in them.
Irene is survived by her four children: Victor Dale Boykin and wife, Toni of Leesburg; Charles Boykin of Leesburg; Pam Watson and husband, Keith of Leesburg; and Fletcher Wade "Bubba" Boykin of Leesburg. Her legacy also includes nine adoring grandchildren: Brad Boykin (Hayley), Jacob Boykin (Ashley), Cory Thompson (Carley), Haley Irwin (Dylan), Kelsey Powell (Tanner), Brandon Watson (Emily), Bailey Boykin, Christopher Spangler, and Anna Sullivan (Zachary). In addition, she was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren: Rylan, Ripley, Buckley, Haze, Jalynn, Berkleigh, Kiaser, Coly, Caden, Cole, Campbell, Sophie, Luci, Millie, Colton, Sawyer, Charles, Briley, and Hunter. Her sister, Phyllis Caudill (Dale) of Forkville, also survives her.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, Jessie Lee Porter and Jennive Wilkerson Porter; two grandchildren, Nicholas Wade Boykin and Jon Zakary Boykin; and three siblings, Buddy Porter, Lucy Harrell, and James Porter.
Irene's life was an embodiment of love, compassion, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Powell, Dylan Irwin, Zach Sullivan, Paul Harrell, Tim Harrell, Bailey Boykin and Brad Boykin.
Her visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 from 5pm - 8pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton and Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 1pm - 2pm at Rehobeth Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 2pm at Rehobeth Baptist Church and graveside will follow in Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Bob Smith and Bro. T.J. Porter will officate the services.
