Bobbie Hodges, a beloved resident of Morton, Mississippi, passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 11, 1933, in Smith County, Mississippi, she lived a life rich with family, faith, and community involvement, leaving behind a lasting legacy.
A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Morton, Bobbie was particularly noted for her active participation in Sunday school and her unwavering commitment to her church community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing guidance and purpose throughout her years.
Beyond her spiritual commitments, Bobbie exhibited her passion for service through her involvement with the Morton Homemakers volunteer club and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also known for her compassionate spirit, dedicating her time to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, where she was able to touch the lives of many in her community.
Bobbie's hobbies included quilting, knitting, crocheting, gardening, reading, and poetry—activities through which she expressed her creativity and nurtured her loved ones. Her quilting talents earned her numerous awards, and her culinary skills were renowned among family and friends. For decades, her home was a welcoming place for family gatherings, characterized by warmth and hospitality, where memories were made and celebrated.
She is survived by her son, Gary Jones of Morton, MS, and her son, Gordon Jones (Janet) of Morton, MS. Bobbie is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Bratvold (Larry K.) of Springfield, MO, her sister, Gail Melendy (Jerry H.) of Sebring, FL, and her beloved grandchildren: Justin Jones, Zach Jones, as well as great-grandchildren Emery Jones, Willa Jones, and Aspyn Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Jones, her parents, Elgie and Esther Boykin, her brother David C. Boykin, her sister Billie Jean Boykin, and her sister-in-law Mary Sue Boykin.
A visitation will be held in her honor on October 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
Bobbie Hodges will be remembered fondly for her gentle spirit, loving heart, and lifelong dedication to her family, friends, and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her.
