Barbara Lou Hardy, born on August 19, 1935, in Lake, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton, Mississippi. A cherished member of her community and a beloved matriarch, Barbara was the youngest of five siblings and was known for her unwavering love of family and faith.
She was the devoted mother of Jeff Hardy (Janette), Jana Stanfill, and Joel Hardy (Judy). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Cole Stanfill (Maddy Ansley-Family Friend),Katie Finney (Kyle), and Joel David Hardy Jr., and her great-granddaughter, Ellisyn Ann Finney. To them, she was more than just a family member; she was the best Mom and a great provider who filled their lives with warmth and joy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her cherished husband, John Jefferson Hardy Jr., and her parents, Hughie Byrd McCoy and Katie Lucille Rush. She also mourned the loss of her siblings: Bobbye Black, Katherine Gatewood, Tom McCoy, and Roger McCoy.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara found immense joy in her connection with Crossgates Baptist Church, where she nurtured her spiritual life and the lives of those around her. In her daily pursuits, she embraced the pleasures of shopping and dressing nicely, always ensuring her makeup was just so—a reflection of her vibrant spirit and personality.
Her family will honor her memory with visitation on October 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, all taking place at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, Mississippi.
Barbara Lou Hardy leaves behind a rich legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the bright light she brought into their lives.
