Iris Elaine Rains, 67, of New Castle, passed away on May 28, 2025.
Born and raised in New Castle, Iris was known for her gentle spirit, her deep love for animals, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Whether it was through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply sharing a laugh while listening to the oldies on the radio, Iris had a way of making others feel cared for and understood.
She found joy in the simple things – spending time with her loved ones, caring for animals, and getting lost in the music that brought back cherished memories. Her strength, warmth, and quiet resilience touched all who knew her.
Iris is survived by her beloved family: her siblings Tony Willett (Vickie); Tina Willett (Carolyn); her children, Emma Tinch (Travis), Thomas Rains (Ginger), and Darius Rains; and nine grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Darwin and Fern Willett.
In honor of Iris's compassionate spirit, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), a cause close to her heart: Donate to NAMI, nami.org/get -involved/donate-to-nami/.
A private family ceremony to honor Iris will be held at a later date.
