Irvin Wayne Campbell, 84, of Mooresville, passed away on August 10, 2023, at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on March 9, 1939, to the late Pole and Ezella (Williams) Campbell. Irvin attended M.C. Napier High School in Kentucky before enlisting in the United States Army from 1956 to 1960. He spent most of his enlistment in Alaska where he specialized in transportation and helped construct the Alaskan Highway. Irvin married Lorene Johnson on February 20, 1963, and she survives. He spent 32 years working for Ford Motor Company as a job setter before retiring. After retirement, Irvin attended barber school. He cut hair at the Village Barber Shop in Mooresville for 17 years and would also travel to nursing homes and residences to help cut hair for those who were immobile.

Irvin loved listening to country music. In his free time, Irvin enjoyed being outdoors. He liked to fish, hunt, and tend to his two-acre garden. Irvin and Lorene opened a woodworking business called “The Knot Hole” where they built cabinetry. Irvin was a very generous, hard-working, family man with a great sense of humor!

In addition to his parents, Irvin is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Abigail and Maizie Kurtz; brothers, Estil, Amos, and Henry Campbell; and sister, Joyce Tiffany.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lorene Campbell; son, Greg (Dana) Campbell; daughter, Jami (Charlie) Kurtz; brothers, Jimmy, Edgar, and Arlie Campbell; grandchildren, Christopher Campbell, Makenzie (John) Sego, Christen Campbell, Sydney Kurtz, Rainer Kurtz; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Sego; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Irvin’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 11 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. The service will begin at 1:00 P.M. and burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
