Isaac Leckman Obituary

Isaac Dean Leckman died on October 28th, 2022, at the age of 40 in his apartment in Marietta. He was born on August 12th, 1982, in Johannesburg, South Africa to Glen and Barbara Leckman.

Isaac lived in South Africa for 14 years and then relocated to Georgia with his family in 1997. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in 2000, and graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a degree in International Politics in 2005. He stayed in Cleveland and started working for Whirlpool. He worked for Whirlpool for 3 years in Tennessee before transferring to the corporate headquarters in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he worked for another 7 years. In 2019 he returned to Georgia.

Soccer was one of Isaac's life-long passions. He started playing soccer when he was 8 years old at school and at local soccer clubs in South Africa and then as a teenager in Marietta. In college, his intramural soccer team won the school championship one year and were runners-up another year. As an adult he would always watch the FIFA World Cup and would cheer for the Netherlands, Argentina, Italy, South Africa, and of course the USA. The Leckman family went to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 where Isaac watched several matches in person. He also enjoyed watching Premier League Football (British professional soccer) and was a huge Arsenal fan.

Playing chess was another activity he began as a child and carried on throughout his life. He spent much of his free time gaming and also enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his parents, Glen and Barbara Leckman, as well as his three sisters: Leigh and her husband, Christopher Carrera and their 2 children, Felicity and her husband, Ian Pierson and their 2 children, and Sonya and her husband, Jens Loso.

There will be a celebration of life in honor of Isaac on Thursday, November 10th at 6pm at Crossview Baptist Church in Marietta.

My fondest memories of Isaac were how consistently he would beat me at ping-pong, dancing ridiculously at poker night with our friend Reggie (very surprised Reggie still decided to hang out with us), and honestly just grabbing food/drinks and just talking. He was one of the smartest people I knew. He was kind to everyone. Isaac added value to my life and others and that means something. I'll miss you man.
