Isabel Martinez-Marquez

With a profound sense of sorrow and faith in the eternal promise, we announce the passing of Isabel Martinez-Marquez, who departed this world on December 22, 2023. Known affectionately as Isa or Chabela, Isabel was born on November 25, 1947, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She made her home in Westfield, Massachusetts, where she became a beacon of love, courage, and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Isabel was a woman of deep faith. She was an active member of the Pentecostal church, where her faith was her sanctuary, and her service to others was her mission. As a true Proverbs 31 woman, Isabel exemplified the virtues of strength, dignity, wisdom, and fear of the Lord. Her life was a testament to the scripture, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:30). Isabel was not only a loving and supportive mother and grandmother, but she was also a successful hair stylist and esthetician who owned and operated Isamar Hair Salon. Her professional achievements, including being a representative for Vivian Woodard cosmetics, were a testament to her hard work, tenacity, and passion for her craft.
Isabel's legacy of love and faith lives on in her cherished family. She is survived by her children, Maria Isabel Hatcher, Pedro Jose Colon, Pedro Luis Colon; her grandchildren, Michelle Marie Colon, Alexandra Marie Cruz, Andrea N. Colon Lennys Colon, Pedro James Colon, and Andrick Bravo; and her great-grandchildren, Isabella Rios, Victoria Rios and, Eliana Cruz, among other dear relatives. Her loving family also includes her in-laws, nieces, and nephews, who will continue to honor her memory in their hearts. Isabel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Jose Colon Santaella; her son, Pedro Abraham Colon; and her parents, Justino Martinez and Catalina Marquez.
The celebration of Isabel's life will take place on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at the North End Chapel, located at 130 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. We invite all who knew and loved Isabel to join us in honoring her memory.
