It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jose Santiago Carides. Born in the vibrant city of Isabela, Puerto Rico on February 9, 1963, Jose's journey of life was one that left a profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to cross his path. As Albert Pike once said, "What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal." Jose lived by this quote, dedicating his life to service, love, and community. Jose made Springfield, Massachusetts his second home, where he lived an honorable life. Never married, he found joy in his work at the local bus company, where he spent years meticulously detailing vehicles, ensuring that every passenger's journey was comfortable and pleasant. His dedication to his work was a testament to his attention to detail, a trait that was admired by all who knew him. In his retirement, Jose's love for his craft never waned, and he was often seen helping his neighbors detail their cars, always ready with a friendly smile and a helpful hand. Jose is lovingly remembered by his children, Charles Andrew and Jose A. Santiago, Thirteen brothers and sisters, his Three loving grandchildren and a host of family and friends. He joins his parents, Miguel Santiago, and Carmen Carides, his Five siblings, his Grandson and Five Nephews, in peaceful rest. Please join us to celebrate Jose's life at a viewing to be held at the North End Chapel, 130 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 PM. The interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. We invite you to share your memories and photos of Jose on his memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a comforting reminder of Jose's unique spirit and the indelible mark he left on our lives. As we remember him, may we strive to embrace his loving spirit, his dedication to service, and his unwavering commitment to making the world around him a better place.
