Victor Angel Rodriguez

With a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Victor Angel Rodriguez, fondly known as Don Victor. Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on January 26, 1943, Victor spent his formative years surrounded by the rich culture of his homeland. He later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he spent the rest of his cherished years. As a dedicated tobacco farmer, Victor cultivated not only the land but also the hearts of those around him.
Victor was a man of a few words but infinite kindness. He lived a quiet, humble life filled with the simple joys and a generous heart. His love for his dogs was profound; they were his loyal companions and a source of daily joy. He found tranquility by the water, casting a line into the 5 mile pond in Springfield during his younger years. Victor's generosity was his defining trait; he was a supportive figure in his community, always ready to help others get to where they needed to be. Whether it was a doctor's appointment, a quick trip to the grocery store, or a stop at the bank, Victor was there, ready with a warm smile and car keys in hand. His life was a testament to the scripture verse, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." (Acts 20:35). Victor lived his Catholic faith deeply, embodying the spirit of giving and compassion.
Victor leaves behind a family that he chose and who chose and loved him in return. He is survived by his ex-fiancé Josefina Nieves, his step-daughters Daisy Cruz, Lisandra and Melissa Nieves, his step-sons Rogelio Marquez, Tomas and Jorge Nieves. He also leaves nieces and nephews that he chose as his family members and whose lives he touched through his steady presence. He is preceded in death by his father, Agustin Rodriguez, and mother, unknown.
A viewing to celebrate Victor's life is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the North End Chapel, 130 Carew Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM, at the Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
