Iserine Angela McHenry was born March 1, 1940 to the late Ira Seals and Narvell Snider-Seals in Willisville, AR . A small yet friendly community made up of mostly “kin folk” where everybody knew everybody. She accepted Christ at a tender age. In 1960, she graduated from Lafayette High School in Camden. She was a member of The Word Family Church, where she served as church mother.
She was a woman of faith, a true prayer warrior, who truly loved the Lord. When she went into doctor’s offices and stores , she couldn’t help but talk about how good God had been to her whether she knew you or not . Iserine was a nanny for many years to Josh (Angela) Jeffus and Keely (Paul) Jeffus-Hall. Whom she deeply loved. Also, she was a stay at home wife, mother and grandmother. Growing up her grandkids loved staying with “Memaw” better known as “Mama” to her first born grandson, Darre’ll. She touched their lives in an unforgettable way as she did everyone because she never met a stranger. Iserine was an impeccable housekeeper and a great cook. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her siblings and her many friends, visiting with her pastor, Bishop Jacovis R. Davis and First Lady, reading her Bible, going to church, spending time with family, fishing, watching Family Feud with Steve Harvey and at 2:00 p.m. everyday the Sherri Shepherd Show. To know her is to know she found great joy in taking care of her two kittens, Bless and Grace whom she loved so dearly. “I love em” she would say.
She united in holy matrimony to Billy Ray Calahan and to this union three children were born. Later on August 28, 1976, she united in holy matrimony to William L. McHenry and together their family grew into a blended family. Her sweet, beautiful soul came to rest on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Ira and Narvell Seals; her husband, William L. McHenry; her brothers, Ira B Seals and James E Witcher; her sister, Ever Dean Seals and her beloved son, Billy “Callie” Calahan (March 17, 2025).
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Anita (Lee) Calahan-Elliott and Patricia (Brandon) Calahan-Byrd, both of Camden, AR. Her step daughters, Vanessa McHenry (Camden, AR), Sandy McHenry (Camden, AR), Sandra McHenry (Eldorado, AR), and Kathy Lowe (Houston, TX).
