Ivka Stojanovich, of Escondido, CA passed away on Oct 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Ivka grew up in Yugoslavia in Sremska Mitrovica. She left Yugoslavia as a teenager to live with her mother in Venezuela where she attended college and earned a degree in accounting. While living in Venezuela she met her husband Milorad, then immigrated to the United States in 1973. Ivka later divorced and went on to have two loving relationships with the late Salvatore “Sam” Romeo and the late Bob Schlamm.
Ivka was the devoted mother to Stan Stojanovich and his wife, Staci, of Escondido, Mirjana Mcllroy and her husband, James of Boyertown, PA, and George Stojanovich and his wife Elizabeth of Aurora, Mo. She was the beloved Baka to Juliet Steele (Kevin), Jasmine Stojanovich (Javier), Aleksandar and Evelina Mcllroy, and Katarina and Asher Stojanovich, and great-granddaughter, Cassia Steele. Ivka was also survived by other family members and dearest friends Linda and Paul Hunter.
Ivka worked for Hunter Industries for 41 years as a quality control inspector before retiring. Ivka’s hobbies included travelling, tending to her beautiful rose garden, visiting the beach, and sharing the occasional Old Fashioned. Ivka cherished her time with her family and would Facetime any chance she had. She never missed her daily phone call with her daughter, Mirjana, when she was driving home from work.
Ivka will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We love you, Mom.
