Ivy Jean Wiggins Wood

Ivy Jean Wiggins Wood was born June 7, 1931, in Hall Summit, Louisiana, and passed away May 7, 2023, just one month shy of her 92nd birthday, while vacationing with her family near Pensacola, Florida. She was a faithful member of Hall Summit Baptist all of her adult life, where she served many years as church pianist. She was a deacon's wife and a member of the Women's Missionary Auxiliary. As a young woman, she worked for Texas Eastern Corporation in downtown Shreveport until the birth of her only child.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Max E. Wood, her parents, James Albert and Nila Verrene Hayes Wiggins, one sister, Elaine Wiggins Hayes and husband G. T. Hayes, and one brother, Vernon Ray Wiggins and wife Toni Wiggins.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Page and husband Scott, granddaughter, Nicole Page Webb and husband Lance, and the joys of her life, great grandsons Landon Wesley and Micah Ashton Webb, all of Hall Summit. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Albert and Lorna Jean Wiggins of Ft. Worth, Texas, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and a loving church family.
Mrs. Wood dedicated her life to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The last few hours of her life she was surrounded by her family including nieces and nephews. She hugged her great grandsons, and then began quoting in a very audible voice, "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you." And then she finished by clearly saying, "I Peter 5:7."
Visitation for the family will be Friday, May 12, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Hall Summit Baptist Church with Mrs. Wood's pastor of 15 years, Bro. Carl Word, officiating. Also officiating will be Bro. Joey Rodgers, Kimberly's brother-in-law. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be as follows: Ted Hayes, Carl Wright, Darrell McLemore, Sr., Matt Webb, Dustin Hayes, Darrell McLemore, Jr., Tom Wood, Kent Wilson, David Wimberly, Josh Wimberly, Chris Wagoner, Ray Moss, Chip Harper, and James Wagoner.
