J.L. Porter, 73, of Spring City, TN went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2025.
J.L. was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed following Major League Fishing (MLF). A devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church in Spring City, he loved the Lord and lived his faith. Above all, J.L. loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by mother, Lois Porter; father, Bob Porter; brother, Mark Porter; and sister, Ronna Porter.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Pamela Porter; daughter, Ronna (Richard) Bunch; one granddaughter; nephew, Shane (Shannon) Price and their children, Addison and Tyler; sister, Linda (Joe) Simpson; special friends, Mike Neal, Michael Neal, Jeff Hill, Tim Morgan, and Runt Garrison; and many other loved family and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Monday October 13, 2025 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Companion Funeral Home in Athens. Following the Visitation, we will go in procession to the Graveside Service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ten Mile, TN with Trampas Rue and Mark Ward officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Neal, Michael Neal, Shane Price, Tyler Price, Jeff Hill, Tim Morgan and Titus Rue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church in Spring City, TN in J.L.'s memory.
