J Lemus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel on Feb. 2, 2026.
Jesus died peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 92 on January 3rd 2026 in Malin, Oregon.

Jesus was born May 27th 1933 in La Quemada, a small town in rural Mexico in the state of Michoacan. He was the fifth child out of twelve born to Refugio Lemus and Rufina Alvarez.

From a young age he contributed to the family chores raising cattle, goats and pigs and farming. Formal education was minimal and much of his learning was on his own. This trait would serve him well later in his adult life when he found himself in a foreign land needing to learn a new language.

In 1965 he married and soon had a growing family. Like many of his generation, he looked to the United States for employment, initially migrating back and forth following seasonal work. He eventually settled the family in southern Oregon/northern California (Tulelake, Malin, Bonanza).

He loved God, his family and the United States. He lived a life of challenges and obstacles and met each with resilience and perseverance. He contributed to the church and made miracles with his earnings by the way of self discipline and restrain. He was generous and needed very little to be happy.

In his mid 70s he developed dementia and in his 80s suffered a brain stroke, eventually leaving him in a wheelchair. Throughout these health issues, his humor was playful and light-hearted during lucid periods.

He is preceded in death by his wife Magdalena (2023), his parents and most of his siblings. He is survived by his children Maria (Daniel Pimentel) of Malin, OR, Joel (Delia) Lemus of Seattle, WA, Magdalena Jaquelina Lemus of Seattle, WA, Eliseo (Maria de los Angeles) Lemus of Salem, OR and Isai (Janeth) Lemus of Seattle. Grandchildren, Daniela (Daniel Brick) Pimentel, Laura Lemus, Joel David Lemus, Cassandra Lemus-Sodji, Paulina Lemus, Gabriel Lemus, Rafael Lemus and Sofia Lemus.
