PAXTON; J. Paul Lock, MD, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21 at his home, surrounded by his children. Born in Worcester, MA he was the son of John W. & Rita T. (Lee) Lock. He was the loving husband of 53 years to Gail Carolyn (Agnew) Lock who predeceased him in 2022. He further was predeceased by his brother, James R. Lock in 1997. He is survived by his son, John P. Lock and his wife Melissa of Malvern, PA, two daughters, Jennifer L. Beauvais and her husband Ed of Hopkinton, MA, Kathleen M. Mancini and her husband Jon of Barrington, RI, and seven grandchildren: James, Sadie, Kate, Matthew, Marc, Julia and Isabel. Dr. Lock graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer, MA in 1964 and was presented with the School's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018. Following high school, he graduated from Assumption College in 1968 and St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1972. He completed training in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA, followed by a Fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Colorado in 1975. Dr. Lock returned to Worcester, MA to become an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Diabetes at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. In addition to teaching medical students, he treated patients for almost 50 years, which he fondly characterized as the favorite part of his career. He authored more than 60 medical publications and participated in over 75 clinical research studies related to diabetes. Dr. Lock travelled the world and cherished summers on Martha's Vineyard, boating and fishing with family and friends. The Funeral will be held, Friday, July 26 from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer, with a Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Ave., Paxton. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Thursday, July 25 from 5-7 P.M. in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. Paul and Gail Lock Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.
