Jack Bellanca, a.k.a Jack the Barber, beloved father, Pappap, and Big Pappap, passed away peacefully on August 28th at the age of 94. A master of his craft, Jack was known to many as the barber who brought not only sharp haircuts but also warm smiles and kind words to his community for over 68 years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane Bellanca, a son Jack (Janice) Bellanca, a daughter Jana (Chuck) Shubat, grandchildren Ryan (Jammie) Evick, Randy (Jessi) Evick, Branden (Jackie) Bellanca, Caitlin (Zach) Kuthy, Matt (Leslie) Lupardus, Mia (Kaci) Lupardus, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Frank Bellanco, sister Rose Loborec, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by parents Gaetano and Onofria (Anna) Bellanca, brother Angelo Bellanco, and sister Eleanor (Norma) Pentino.
Beyond the barber's chair, Jack was a man of many passions. He was an avid golfer, finding joy on the course, where he could unwind. He also served his country as a Korean War veteran in the United States Army. He was also a member of St. Michael's parish. Jack's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the beauty of a life lived in service to others. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, a lasting reminder of the love, strength, humility, and kindness that defined his days.
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Friday, August 30, 2024, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Full Military Honors courtesy of the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 10:00 am in front of St. Michael Catholic Church.
