Jack Isbell, 95, of Haskell, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, in Haskell, Texas. A graveside service will be held 10:00am, Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Willow Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Tarvin officiating, under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A visitation will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Jack was born August 18, 1928, in Young County, Texas to John Isbell and Opal McFadden Isbell. As a young boy, his family traveled from Satin, Texas to Paint Creek, Texas by covered wagon and later settled in Haskell. He married Letha Othel McGhee in 1946 in Haskell.
Jack was an avid hunter and enjoyed running his dogs. He loved to fish. When he was a young man his favorite pastime was Golden Glove Boxing with his oldest brother, Tommie. He worked as a roustabout for Anderson Construction until starting his own company Jack Isbell Construction.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Letha; daughter, Dorothy Chesnut; sons, Jackie Dale Isbell and Johnny Ireland Isbell; parents, John and Opal Isbell; brothers, Tommie, Jimmy, and John Jr.
Jack is survived by two sons, Alvin Isbell and wife Valerie, and Tony Isbell and wife Crete, daughter-in-law, Linda Isbell; 15 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; sister Jessie Maude Kline; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; as well as a host of dear friends.
