Jack D. Krautkramer, 91, Marathon, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Marathon, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Jack was born January 19th, 1934 to the late Franklin and Lillian (Drengler) Krautkramer. He enlisted in the United States Navy/Air Force in 1951-1954 and was stationed in Florida and North Africa as an aircraft mechanic. On August 8th, 1955 he married the love of his life, Katherine Hornung.
Jack often spoke of his employment with Pagel Construction working on building many roads throughout the state of Wisconsin. He and Katherine spent 32 years raising ginseng. They began their own business on Jack's home farm in Marathon, consisting of K-K Mini Storage and Krautkramer Berry Farm.
Jack took great pride in Marathon, where he lived his life and served on the Village Board, as well as Water Board, the Planning Committee, the Fire Department and was a member of the Marathon American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post #469.
Jack and Katherine spent many years traveling and especially enjoyed time at their cabin in Tomahawk with their children and grandchildren. Jack also enjoyed fishing at the cottage on Lake Nokomis and many Sheepshead games with family, gardening and cutting the "damn" lawn.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Katherine; their children, Randy (Sandra) Krautkramer, Stone Lake, Lisa (Doug) Anker, Tomahawk, Mickey (Kim) Krautkramer, Marathon, daughter-in-law, Connie Krautkramer, Tomahawk; 10 grandchildren; Amber (Scott) Behnke, Abby Jo (Ryan) Behnke, Kelly Cramlet, Megan (Nolan) Gilbert, Cory (Bridgette) Krautkramer, Samantha (Anthony) Lashua, Chelsea (Antoine) Roberts, Nicholas (Ashley) Anker, Angeline (Trent) Schwegmann and Amanda Everson; and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wallace (Dot) Krautkramer, Malhon "Pete" Krautkramer, Rita (James) Urmanski, Lynn Vesley, Mary (Ed) Handrick, Charles (Elaine) Krautkramer, Emily (Bill) Stanley; sisters-in-law; Mims, Marge and Kay Krautkramer; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Peter, and brothers, Gordon, Claude, Leon, James, and infant brother, David.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon until the time of the services. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier presiding. There will be full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 469, Marathon.
