Jack Miller, a cherished patriarch and respected community member, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 2, 2026, at the age of 83 in his hometown of
Ogden, Utah. Born on March 11, 1942, in the same close-knit community, Jack lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a boundless capacity for joy and generosity.
Jack's early years in Ogden laid the foundation for a life rich in relationships and experiences. He was the beloved son of the late Del and Melva Miller and grew up alongside his sisters, Kay Payne and Judy Bylsma, who have since passed away. Jack's life was further blessed with the love of his late wife, Gloria Miller, with whom he shared a profound and enduring bond. The couple's love was a testament to their shared values and commitment to family, a legacy continued by their children. Though Jack endured the heartache of saying farewell to his sons, Roger Todd Miller and Bill Miller, he found solace in the love and support of his bonus daughter, Lisa Stapley.
Jack's family tree flourished with the addition of his grandchildren, Jeremy Threlfall, Calvin Honneywell, the late DeLynda Honneywell, Tyler Miller, Kaila Hubbard, and Nathaniel Miller. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Ayla Honneywell, Daylin Vargo, Justin Hubbard, Elynda Hubbard, Thea Hubbard, Freya Hubbard, Rhiannon Threlfall, Colton Threlfall, Allison Threlfall, Daryl Miller, Odin Honneywell, and Iris Honneywell. Jack's love for his family knew no bounds, and he took particular delight in the simple pleasures of life, such as ensuring he always had olives for Thea and Red Vines for his grandchildren. His home was a hub of storytelling, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of BBQ, traits that endeared him to many nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran of the Navy, Jack served with distinction and often reminisced about his time in Kauai, Hawaii, where he not only defended his country but also forged lifelong friendships. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with Mountain Fuel, where he worked until his retirement. Jack's professional life was characterized by the same loyalty and dedication that he showed in all his endeavors.
Jack's educational journey, which included some college, was a testament to his belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. His intellectual curiosity was matched by a diverse array of interests that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. Jack was an avid traveler, reveling in the warmth of Yuma and the vibrant culture of Mexico. Music filled his home and heart, providing a soundtrack to the many happy moments he shared with friends and family.
Described by those who knew him as loving, funny, and generous, Jack's legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and an open heart. His sense of humor was a beacon of light, and his generosity knew no limits. Jack Miller will be remembered not just for the life he led, but for the joy he brought to others, the stories he told, and the love he spread so freely.
As we bid farewell to Jack, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by unwavering love, laughter, and the cherished memories he created with all who were lucky enough to know him. Jack's spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched throughout his remarkable 83 years.
