Jack R. Munsen Jr., a cherished family man, and esteemed member of the Chicago community, passed away on August 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family in his hometown. Born on December 2, 1958, to Jack and Georgia (nee. Andriakos) Munsen Sr., Jack was a lifelong resident of the Windy City and a beacon of kindness and reliability to all who knew him.
After graduating from Prosser High School, Jack dabbled in tool and die before embracing a varied and fulfilling career. He began his professional journey as a CDL driver and route salesperson for G. Heileman, maker of Old Style beer. His industrious spirit led him to C&K Snacks to again work with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, where he not only excelled as a driver and route salesperson but also took the entrepreneurial leap to manage his own route independently. Jack's charisma and natural people skills eventually steered him to the role of chauffeur for various limousine services, again culminating in a successful independent operation. He rounded out his career with his passion for connecting with people selling marketing and advertising.
Jack's zest for life was enriched by his beloved pastimes. A culinary enthusiast, he savored the art of cooking and was a fixture in front of the TV when cooking shows were on. His love for sports was ever-present as he cheered on his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs and Bears, with undying loyalty and a lot of disappointment. Grilling and relaxing by the pool on sunny days was a slice of heaven for Jack, as was the time he spent on the golf course and at the bowling alley in his earlier years. Above all, the past 14 years of delight in Jack's life were woven with moments spent with his granddaughters, Hannah, Brooklynn, and Mila, and his grandsons, Bennett and Jackson, as he witnessed their growth and blooming personalities.
Jack will be re-united in death with his late sister Dawn and other close family members whom he dearly missed. Described as loving, handy, and thoughtful, Jack is survived by a family that adored him deeply: his parents, Jack Sr. and Georgia; his sisters Jacqueline, Kim, and Cindy; his children, Nicholas (Kate), Megan Munsen (Reginald Sullivan), Michael (Deanna), and Danielle Munsen (Neil Paule), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Jack, we reflect on the words of the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." In every sense, Jack succeeded. His memory will be a guiding light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire acts of love and kindness in the hearts of his loved ones.
Jack's life will be celebrated for not only the joy he brought into this world but also for the unwavering support and care he provided to his family and friends. As the chapters of his story are recounted, smiles will surely follow the tears, for there was a man who truly made the world a better place by simply being in it. Jack Munsen Jr.'s legacy of love and dedication will live on, as will the memories of the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Jack, and may your spirit continue to guide us with the same love and thoughtfulness you showed in life.
