Jack Dale Rhoades, age 94 of Bastrop, Texas passed away December 6th, 2024, at his home in Bastrop. Jack was born in Hambleton, West Virginia, to Zernia Elizabeth and Cleveland Henry Rhoades on March 28,1930. He attended Parsons High School in Parsons, West Virginia. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force. He did his Basic Training in San Antonio, Texas and was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas where he met Beverly, his wife of 72 years, at church.
He was blessed with four children: John Dale Rhoades and wife Phyllis, Sherri Ann Seals and husband David, Ricky Everett Rhoades and wife Sheri, and David Cleveland “Pete” Rhoades. He has twelve grandchildren: Amanda Leigh Seeley and husband Ryan, Amy Michelle Gutschick and husband Kurt, Travis Rhoades and wife Tara, Stephen David Seals and wife Charity, William Andrew Seals and wife Danni, Jessica Bernick and husband Ian, Jack Everett Rhoades and wife Erin, Jenae Deanne Byrd and husband Braden, Jayci Caitlyn Ehler and husband Preston, Julie Anne Rhoades and fiancé Cameron Cavanaugh, David Cleveland Rhoades, and Zachary Woodrow Rhoades.
He was also blessed with twenty great grandchildren: Trystan John Seeley, Elaina Michelle Seeley, Annaleigh Audrey Seeley, Isaac Wayne Gutschick, Ezra Leigh Gutschick, Asher John Gutschick, Kailey Jo Rhoades, Colton Dale Rhoades, Brooklyn Kathleen Rhoades, Brooklyn Marie Seals, Samantha Lynn Seals, William Darron Seals, Vela B Bernick, Colbie Phay Rhoades, Ricky Everett Rhoades II, Annabeth Grace Byrd, Baylor Rae Byrd, Hattie Lynn Ehler, Riley Emmett Ehler, and Mina Beverly Rhoades.
Jack worked for National Life Insurance Company. They were eventually sold to American General Insurance Company. After many years of selling insurance, Jack retired from American General. He was also the co-owner, with his wife Beverly, of Bastrop Florist. They ran Bastrop Florist for twenty-two years.
Jack was a member of the Mina Masonic Lodge for seventy years. He received his Golden Trowel Award in 2021. He was also a member of the Ben Hur Shriners in Austin, Texas. He was also inducted into the Parsons High School Hall of Fame for his athletic accomplishments.
He loved watching Junior High and High School football games when his sons played, and his daughter twirled. He was also an avid hunter and really enjoyed the outdoors.
His funeral service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church at 600 Spring Street in Bastrop, Texas. The service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 16th. Visitation will be at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 15th.
The pallbearers are his grandsons: Stephen Seals, Andrew Seals, Travis Rhoades, Jack Rhoades, David Rhoades, and Zachary Rhoades.
Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters: Amanda Seeley, Amy Gutschick, Jessica Bernick, Jenae Byrd, Jayci Ehler, and Julie Rhoades.
