Jack Schwartz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services on Mar. 17, 2026.
Jack L. Schwartz Jr., 65, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital, with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with COPD.

Jack was born January 1, 1961, in Angola, Indiana, the son of Jack and Ruth (Curry) Schwartz. His father preceded him in death.

Jack attended Eastside High School in Butler with the Class of 1979. From a young age, he developed a strong work ethic instilled by his father. As a teenager, he delivered the Fort Wayne newspaper and worked as a janitor at Pug's News Stand in Butler. He later worked for Merritt Inc. collecting trash for a little more than a year before joining Hamilton Standard in Auburn, where he worked for several years until the plant closed. Jack then began a long career with Dana/Eaton in Auburn, where he worked for more than 30 years until the company closed its Auburn operations.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved camping, tending to his flower garden, visiting the casino, and playing pinball. A fan of rock and roll music, his favorite bands included The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Jack also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Outlaw Sprint car racing and attended the Kings Royal many times with his father.

Jack is survived by his mother, Ruth Schwartz; sister, Jennifer (Eric) Grobis; brother, Jason (Gretchen) Schwartz; nine nieces and nephews, Jessica (DJ) Cammarn, Erica Grobis, Derrek (Paige) Schwartz, Taylor Schwartz, Brooke Schwartz, Kenji Schwartz, Miranda Schwartz, Amanda Schwartz, and Brenda (Corey) Whalen; as well as four great-nieces and four great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. with visitation two hours prior from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. Followed by a Celebration of life dinner at the Fairfield Community Center 1351 County Road 12, Corunna, Indiana. Pastor Stuart Mutzfeld will be officiating the memorial service. Burial at Fairfield Cemetery in Corunna will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the DeKalb Humane Society.
