Jack Suttles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson Funeral Home (Williamson-Airsman-Hires) - Jacksonville on Dec. 23, 2025.
Eldon "Jack" Suttles, Jr., 97, of Jacksonville, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.
He was born Dec. 2, 1928, the son of Eldon Suttles and Mary Jane (Israel) Suttles. He married Wilma Lee (Jackson) Suttles on Nov. 3, 1945. They were married 80 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; his son, Jerry (Eileen) Suttles; daughter, Donna Lowery (deceased husband, Richard); four grandchildren, Andrew Bell, Matt Suttles, Jenny Suttles, and Justin Lowery; and four great grandchildren, Joe Varela, Jake Suttles, Jenna Varela, and Angelique "AJ" Lowery. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ida May Essex (deceased husband, Coleman), and Patty Ann Twyford (deceased husband, Ray); one brother, Kenneth "Bud" Suttles (deceased wife, Maxine); and his son-in-law, Richard Lowery.
Jack worked at Sunbeam Bakery and retired from Eli Bridge Company as shop foreman after 38 years. He enjoyed camping and in his younger years, owned property on the Mississippi River. There he spent his time water skiing and catfishing. He called the place "Mouse Curve" because the outhouse always has a mouse or two that had to be run off by the family dog, "Bootsie."
Jack and Wilma made their winter home in Okeechobee, FL for many years. Jack loved to fish and would start every day fishing. Crappie didn't have a chance against Jack. This would mean lots of fish fries when they returned home in the spring. After retirement, Jack started a business of spray painting basements. This kept him busy during the summer until he could return to the place he loved, Okeechobee.
Jack loved his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attended as many of their sporting events as possible. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Jacksonville Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to PAWS. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.
