Jack Sweger Obituary

Harry Sweger
February 4, 1931 - November 26, 2024
Harry John Sweger Jr. (Jack) was born on February 4, 1931, in Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania, and passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Stamford, Connecticut.
Jack was a cherished resident of Greenwich for 60 years. He dedicated much of his time to community service, notably as a long-term volunteer and President of Meals-on-Wheels. Alongside his beloved wife, Carol, he actively supported the Rummage Room of Old Greenwich and was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich. Jack was also a member of the Retired Men's Association and enjoyed singing with the Melody Men.
A proud alumnus of Penn State University, Jack earned a degree in Journalism and was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He served honorably in the Navy. In 1953, Jack married his lifelong love, Carol Campbell, and together they raised three daughters.
Jack's professional career was at McGraw-Hill Publishing, where he retired as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing after 33 years of dedicated service.
Known affectionately as "Pop-Pop," Jack was the proud patriarch of a large family, including eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will deeply miss his warm and loving presence.
Predeceased by his wife, Carol Campbell Sweger (1930-2007), Jack is survived by his sister, Anne Kelly, and his three daughters and their husbands: Suanne and Stetson Tanner of Schenectady, NY; Sally and Tony Graham of Old Greenwich, CT; and Patty and Chip Carmody of Darien, CT. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: John (Tara) Tanner, Jessica (Andrew) Tanner Darrigo, Duncan Graham, William Graham, James Graham, Madeleine Graham, Christopher Carmody, and Hannah Carmody, as well as his great-grandchildren: Natalie and Stetson Tanner, and Dalton and Grace Darrigo.
Memorial services will be held in early 2025.
