Jack Donald Wollam, a resident of rural Cooperstown, ND, passed away on November 16, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born on June 13, 1948 to Floyd and Kathryn Wollam in Spencer, IA. After graduating from Spencer High School, he went on to study at the University of Northern Iowa, where he met and married his former wife and mother of his children, Diana. Following college, Jack taught high school social studies and coached the basketball team in Rake, IA. He later moved to Lakota, IA, where he raised his family and served as the local insurance agent. He was proud to serve as mayor and as a volunteer firefighter. In 1984, Jack relocated his family to Seminole, FL to be closer to his parents and extended family. Chasing his love for duck hunting and a return to small-town life, Jack moved to Cooperstown, ND in 2005. Three years later, he met Darlene Reinhart of McVille, ND and the two became a couple. His grand adventure in life began when he opened up his farmstead in rural Cooperstown as the Prairie Hill Inn. There he found joy in hosting hunting groups and sharing his passion for the great outdoors. Jack was eager to share his lifelong knowledge. He was often found out on a country drive in his pickup truck scouting for ducks. Hunters who came to enjoy the "magic of the prairie" became his lifelong friends.
Jack is survived by his beloved partner, Darlene Reinhart of McVille, ND. He is also survived by his daughter, Allison Zimmerman (husband Brian) of Wellington, FL and his son, Joseph Wollam of Seminole, FL and their mother Diana Wollam of Seminole, FL. He was the proud grandfather to Eliana, Leora, and Brielle Zimmerman. Jack is also survived by his sister, Janet Baldwin of Treasure Island, FL.
A private memorial will be held by close family in the spring where his ashes will be scattered in the great outdoors. Jack's quick-witted sense of humor, determination, and love for nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
