Raymond Paul Schuh, age 76, of Lakota, North Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2025. Born on July 1, 1949 to Paul and Esther Schuh, Raymond was a proud graduate of Lakota High School and later North Dakota State University. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather whose reliability, dry wit, generosity, and strong sense of responsibility will be deeply missed.
Raymond spent his life working the land, but he was known best for his deep love of the outdoors. A dedicated hunter, skilled marksman, devoted fisherman, and true sportsman in all seasons, he found joy and purpose in time spent outside and valued every opportunity to share those experiences with friends and family.
Service to his community was always important to Raymond. He spent many years on the Lakota High School School Board, offering steady, thoughtful leadership and a sincere commitment to local students and families. One of his proudest contributions was helping to establish the Lakota High School Trap Shoot League to give young people the chance to build confidence, discipline, and respect for a sport he loved so much.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Schuh and Esther (Horysh) Schuh; grandparents Joe Horysh, Cella (Kalash) Horysh, John Michael Schuh, and Catherine (Schummer) Schuh; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra (Miller) Schuh; his sisters Marlys Schuh (Amy Mosher) and Janice Schuh; his children, Kara Schuh (John Parent), Lindsey Schuh Cortes (Edgardo Cortes), and Paul Schuh (Alyscia Eisen); grandchildren Matthew Koski, Erik Koski (Bailey Schwab), Omar Cortes, Veronica Cortes, Calvin Schuh, and Constance Schuh; great grandson Sawyer Koski (due in December); and a large extended family.
He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, community service, and a profound respect for the land and traditions that shaped his life. His memory will remain a lasting presence in the lives of his family, friends, and the Lakota community.
Services for Raymond will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota.
Memorials can be sent to the Lakota Ambulance (PO Box 338, Lakota, ND 58344) or the Lakota High School Trap Shoot League in care of Lakota Public School District #66 (PO Box 388, Lakota, ND 58344).
