Sherman Moen, age 98, died Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.
Sherman Allen Moen was born September 12, 1927 in rural Whitman, ND, the son of Carl and Dagney (Olson) Moen. He attended Whitman School and graduated from Michigan High School in 1946. He farmed his entire life on the farm north of Whitman where he was born. Sherman married Janice Stave on July 21, 1968 at North Prairie Lutheran Church near Leeds, ND. They were blessed with two children, Sheryl and Scott. Sherman was a lifelong member of Sarnia United Lutheran Church. He served many years on the church council and many years as a Supervisor of Sarnia Township. He was a longtime member of the Gideons and very active in the community chorus and in later years, the Easter Cantata in Michigan, ND.
After his son Scott married Missy Kjorsvik, Sherman moved off the farm. He lived in Lakota, ND for two years, and then bought a house in Michigan, where he lived until moving into the Larimore Good Samaritan Society in 2022. He resided at Aneta Parkview for the past 2 ½ years. Although he no longer lived on the farm, Sherman retained his life-long love of farming and enjoyed going on rides to look at the fields.
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Almira Hogenson, Donna Newell, and Maurice Moen; and wife Janice Moen. He is survived by his children Sheryl, Minneapolis, MN, and Scott (Missy) Moen, Michigan, ND; and grandchildren McKenzie and Shawn Moen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Larimore Good Samaritan and Aneta Parkview Health Center for the tremendous care they provided Sherman for the last 5 years.
