It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie J. Jones, a beloved nurse, devoted caretaker, and cherished member of the Mamou community on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Born on August 9, 1936, in Saint Landry, Louisiana, to the late Eluid and Ruby Thibodeaux Johnson, Jackie touched the lives of many during her 88 years on this earth before she peacefully passed away at Savoy Care Center in Mamou where she received excellent care.
Jackie dedicated over 20 years of her life to the health care industry, working as a nurse for Dr. Frank Savoy, Jr. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to her patients made a significant impact on those she cared for. Outside of her profession, Jackie found joy in fishing, tending to her yard, and cooking for family and friends. She had a nurturing and loving presence, exemplifying what it meant to be a caretaker.
Jackie is survived by her loving sister, Dona Sue Fontenot, and her husband, Jasper, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Lee Jones Sr.; her parents, Eluid and Ruby Thibodeaux Johnson; and her sister, Claudia J. Downs.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Jackie’s life during her visitation on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Ardoin's Funeral Home, starting at 8:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed prior to the dismissal. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, with Father Tom Voorhies officiating. Jackie will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum, where her spirit will continue to shine over those she loved.
In this time of sorrow, we remember Jackie J. Jones as a beacon of love and kindness, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
