Jackie Lee Shriver, known to friends and family as Jack, passed away peacefully at his home in Maidsville on Monday Sept. 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 26, 1960, in Morgantown, WV, he was a man of remarkable spirit and vigor who touched the lives of many with his warm presence.
Jack's memory is cherished by his beloved mother Martha Woody Shriver of Morgantown, his children Homer Wilson III, Mike Wilson, daughter Crystal Wilson (Keith Gibson), and his treasured grandson Andrew Gibson. His siblings, Kenny Shriver, Terry (Eric) Smeltzer, and Denise (Ronnie) Sims, alongside numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him. Jack's life was further enriched by the love and companionship of his late wife Susan Shoemaker Shriver and their bond remains a treasured memory, surpassed only by the legacy of his departed father, Charles Shriver.
For years, Jack proudly worked as a machine operator at Parotta Paving, where his diligence and camaraderie were appreciated by all. His true passion, however, lay in the freedom of the open road atop his Harley and in the tranquility of nature. Whether hunting or fishing, Jack was happiest surrounded by the great outdoors.
Jack's determined spirit and infectious love for life left an indelible mark on this world, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 from 10 AM until time of services at 12 PM with Rev. Shawn Woody officiating. He will rest at the Bethel Cemetery beside his wife Susan.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and doctors of WVU Hospice and the Cancer Center for their compassionate care during the past several weeks.
