Mr. Jackson Roper Helms

It is with great honor and respect that we announce the REbirth of our joyful Jackson Roper Helms. At 24 years old, Jackson transitioned peacefully at his home in Indian Trail, NC on March 19, 2023. He was surrounded with the overwhelming love, skill, and grace of his loved ones.
Jackson was born in Matthews, NC on October 22, 1998 to parents Kelly Helms and Brannon Helms. Jackson is remembered for his impeccable joy despite his challenges, and though he never spoke, he continues to challenge us to honor his legacy by soldiering on with happiness and gratitude greater than our own suffering. His spirit was and remains bigger than his body, and his fortitude defeated fear and strife daily. He has saved a life without trying, approached the public without walking, and encouraged love with every ounce of his unique and resilient nature. His joyful noise, laugh, and songs are missed, but they are forever carried by the birds and the breeze. Jackson has taught all who knew him that the key to life is perspective.
Jackson is predeceased by his great grandmothers Ralphine Reed and Genevieve Moore, great grandfathers Keith Roper and William Whitt, grandparents Karen Presley and Doug Helms, and his devoted caregiver Sharon Bullard. Jackson survives indefinitely in the light and love of "his village" including proud, adoring parents Kelly and Brannon Helms, kindred siblings Cheyanne Helms, Alec Helms, and Madison West, committed caregiver Miles Wojtczak, ever-supportive and cherished grandparents Gina "Tootsie" and Richard "Pops" Whitt and Helen "Meme" Ellis, aunts Jenn "Wubba" Boswell, Peggy Whitt, and Teresa "T" McKimm, and his kindred friends and supporters Michael Severance (who tends to us all so gently), Sav and Lexie Moon, Kaylee Cuccia, Manny Alvarez, Kevin Jacobs, Tammy Kearns, Rebecca Wisenbaker, "Auntie" Angie, Sally Goodwin, and the integral experience and skill of Alexis and Gayle Foster. Jackson's village was larger than life, and we consider all doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists, and cheerleaders our family. Thank you, village. There are too many to count and name. Our blessings are abundant, and Jackson's legacy lives on in all of you.
Jackson's celebration of life is Sat April 22, 2023 from 7:00pm until 9:30pm at The Reserves Clubhouse in Waxhaw, 10022 Royal Colony Dr., Waxhaw, NC 28173.
DRESS GREENS (and if you see dandelions pick a yellow and a white with you for each attendee for a ceremonial "wish"). Respectfully casual wear is kosher. Green is Jackson's favorite color, so be colorful like him! Bring a chair to sit outside under the tree. No alcohol on premises.
